7 Days of Fasting & Prayer
This week is a sacred invitation to align with God through fasting, prayer, and expectation. Our theme, “Don’t Hold Back,” is rooted in Isaiah 54:1–2 and calls us to shout for joy, enlarge, extend, and strengthen.

Children at HOPAW can participate in the Fast too! Our teachers have put together a fasting and prayer booklet just for them!
Dear HOPAW Family,
As we step into our Week of Fasting and Prayer, beginning Monday, January 19 through Sunday, January 25, we want to invite you into this sacred time with open hearts and unrestrained faith.
We did not arrive in 2026 by accident. We arrived here by the faithfulness of God. Last year, the Lord strengthened us, rooted us, and resolved things beneath the surface so that we could stand like oaks firm, grounded, and established. Now, He is not undoing that work; He is building on it.
This year’s theme, “The Year We Don’t Hold Back,” is a call to live unrestrained shouting for joy, enlarging our place, extending our tent, and strengthening our stakes. God is inviting us to move by faith before we see evidence, to prepare in expectation, and to lift our voices even when circumstances haven’t yet caught up with the promise.
Fasting and prayer is how we posture ourselves to say, “Lord, we’re ready.” Ready to not hold back our praise. Ready to not hold back our obedience. Ready to not hold back our trust, our surrender, or our faith. This is not a week of restraint, it is a week of alignment, where we allow God to free our voice, enlarge our vision, and strengthen our capacity for what He desires to release.
As the House of Praise and Worship, this is where we begin by lifting our voices, quieting our flesh, and positioning our hearts before the Lord. Let us enter this week together with expectation, humility, and courage, believing that God meets us when we refuse to hold back.
We are praying with you, walking with you, and believing God for what is ahead.
With love and faith,
Sr. Pastors Joel & Karla Cruz

“so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
- Matthew 6:18
PURPOSE
This time of fasting is a wonderful experience for our spiritual lives. It is a time to surrender and seek the Lord. It is a time we give Him the priority of our time in consecration and in our first fruits. This should be a time of maturity and spiritual growth. Our fast should include prayer time where we present our following petitions, requests, and supplications to our Lord. Ask the Lord for a spiritual outburst and revival to emerge this New Year.
FAQs
-
The first three days are often the most challenging as your body and spirit begin to adjust. During this time, you may experience hunger, fatigue, or cravings, along with a greater need to stay focused on prayer, Scripture, and worship.
These physical and spiritual responses are normal. We encourage you to drink plenty of water, rest when needed, remain mindful of the purpose of the fast, and continue seeking God for strength, clarity, and grace as you move forward.
-
Yes. Many people find that days two and three are the most difficult. This is a common part of fasting as your body adjusts and your spirit is being strengthened. During these days, pray for courage and endurance, stay connected to Scripture, and remember why you began the fast.
God is faithful to provide strength when we seek Him.

The fast follows a simple, intentional diet focused on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds, along with water and natural beverages. Vegetables should form the foundation of the diet, with fruits, grains, and proteins consumed in moderation.
