〰️ Leave it in the Water
Baptism is a sacred and meaningful step in the life of a believer.
It is an outward expression of an inward transformation, a public declaration that you have chosen to follow Jesus Christ.
At House of Praise and Worship C.C., we believe baptism is not a ritual done out of tradition, but an act of obedience, faith, and surrender. It marks the beginning of a new life rooted in Christ.
Meet Pastor Richard Serrano
Pastor Richard Serrano has faithfully served as a baptismal pastor for over three decades, dedicating his life to guiding others in their walk with Jesus Christ. With the heart of a true servant, he has impacted countless lives for the glory of God, helping believers take their next steps of faith through baptism and spiritual growth.
At House of Praise and Worship, Pastor Richard teaches and shepherds individuals on their journey to follow Christ. Through baptismal classes and New Believers Bible studies, he provides wisdom, encouragement, and a firm biblical foundation. He teaches weekly on Wednesdays at 7:30 PM, pouring into those hungry to grow deeper in their relationship with the Lord.
Beyond the church, Pastor Richard continues his mission of uplifting others in his professional role, where he guides and supports individuals in accessing higher education. He is described as the one holding the ladder steady, helping others climb toward their God-given purpose.
A worshipper at heart, he loves praising God through music, especially with his guitar in hand. In his quiet moments, you might find him in the woods, reflecting on God’s creation and presence.
Pastor Richard’s life is a testimony of faithful service, humility, and a deep commitment to seeing others come to know and follow Christ.
What Does It Mean to Be Baptized and Follow Jesus?
-
Baptism is a meaningful response to choosing to follow Jesus. Scripture teaches that baptism follows belief it is a personal decision to publicly declare your faith in Christ.
“Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved…” Mark 16:16
Because of this, House of Praise and Worship C.C. does not baptize infants or children. We believe baptism should be entered into by individuals who can understand the commitment they are making and choose, for themselves, to follow Jesus.
-
Jesus Himself was baptized before beginning His public ministry. In doing so, He modeled obedience, humility, and alignment with God’s will. He also instructed His disciples to continue this practice as they made followers of Christ.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” — Matthew 28:19
At HOPAW, we baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, following both the example and the command of Jesus.
-
Baptism symbolizes the transformation that takes place when someone puts their faith in Jesus. Going under the water represents leaving behind your old life, and rising again represents new life, forgiveness, and freedom in Jesus Christ.
